The very long 27 books ofL'Italia liberata dai Goti in loose verses, composed by Giangiorgio Trissino (1478-1550) in the early 1920s, found an epic poetry model that intends to respond to the crisis of the Italian states, aggravated after 1494 , and the political-cultural necessity of a founding myth, which the poet traces back to the Gothic war fought on the Italian peninsula between 535 and 553.
